I love writing articles on fun, romantic dates. But this year, I felt a bit bored and restless with the list of activities I came up with recently.
That could possibly be due to the fact that I am single and it has been far too long since I have had a partner to be romantic with.
Or maybe it’s because it takes a lot to get me turned on when my ass is freezing cold since I am definitely a beach bum baby and the latest article I wrote was about romantic dates in NYC during the winter.
I love the idea of having a partner I can stroll hand in hand with, looking deeply into each other’s eyes in front of a fireplace. That’s cute. But I do not have anyone special in my life currently.
I’ve been single for a long time, and dating when you’re just getting to know somebody and dating when you’re in a loving relationship can be dramatically different.
Of course, I would love to meet an old-fashioned, chivalrous alpha male who opens the car door, brings flowers on a first date, and whispers that he would love it if I wore a red dress for him on our date, I would be thrilled. If he chose River Cafe under the Brooklyn Bridge, I would probably marry that mofo.
Yes, romantic dates are sweet. But I also love a man who is also a bit edgy. A man who would plan a date that is slightly scandalous and unusual; unique.
For couples, even if they’re meeting for the first time, it can help to add intimacy and fun to a relationship to try something different.
I don’t mean I want a man to take me to a strip club or a swingers club; especially not on a first date! But if a man took me to a burlesque show the first time we met, he just might be my soul mate.
Whether it’s wildly scandalous, or slightly sexy in a more subtle, sensuous way, I love a unique performance, event, or show.
Perhaps it’s because this pandemic has really *ed up my s*x life (not that I had a s*ex life before the pandemic, either, but I sound cooler if I blame it on the ‘Rona) that I am craving something a bit spicier, more fun than a typical “let’s meet up at Starbucks and sit awkwardly in silence underneath bright, fluorescent lights as we avoid eye contact” meet and greet.
If I’m going to dinner with a man, a favorite Japanese spot for sushi can be absolutely lovely. But wouldn’t it be amazing to go to Casa la Femme where you and your partner can dine in a private tent, or you can watch a hot belly dancer moving and swaying and gyrating her hips as she glides past you?
You can meet up for drinks at a corner bar in your neighborhood. Or, you could cuddle under a blanket sipping hot toddies or a peppermint holiday concoction in an igloo on the roof of the famous 230 Fifth Avenue nightclub.
It’s important to keep in mind that what may be considered sexy or romantic to one person may not be to another, and it’s important to respect your partner’s boundaries and preferences.
I would absolutely fall madly in love if a man I’m going on a first date with decided he wanted to dress in costume and go with me to a Renaissance Faire as my breasts are popping out over a tight corset!
Or perhaps we might go to a House of Yes! Cabaret show. Or, imagine meeting for the first time in a country neither of us has ever been to before to go scuba diving?!
Yes, I am aware that not everyone is that crazy. Alas, I must resign myself to getting all dressed up in a super sexy (but not slutty) form-fitting dress and heels and meeting for dinner.
But a girl can dream! So, I came up with a fabulous list of sexy dream dates I would go crazy for.
These are the type of dates that I would be thrilled to go on with the right man. But the right man for me would be one creative enough to choose something a bit different, a bit daring, a bit sexy. Dinner is lovely, (and there are some cool restaurant t ideas on this list.)
Some of these more unusual activities (like The Museum of Sex, an erotic poetry event, or an outdoor film and picnic in the park) just take a bit more planning. But these are the kind of dates that make it impossible for other men to compete with.
Each year I do post an article on super fun, romantic, (and sometimes sexy) date ideas in NYC, but that list is for activities you can do during the warmer months. For this post, I searched date activities you can do during the winter.
I hope you are like me and willing to try something a little different. If you do go on a sexy date, let me know in the comments below!

Why not fly someplace neither of you has ever been to for dinner? Better yet; why not meet there instead? You never know if dinner could turn into a weekend getaway in a treehouse in a jungle.
Haha, I know this is a really bizarre type of first date, but this is my “dream date wishlist” and I am obsessed with travel and adventure the way Honey BooBoo loves tiaras.
