Wedding Themes: Great Ideas to Get You Started

Are you overwhelmed with the thought of planning your wedding and need some wedding theme great ideas to get you started? Don’t worry; we’ve got some tips that will help you plan the most romantic, memorable wedding ever!

According to DirectLine, an incredible 9.6 million Brits have regrets about their marriage and one in twenty believe they married the wrong person!  Start it off right by choosing the right theme for you!

Choosing a theme

A theme can make or break a wedding. Some can be done tackily, or if they are executed poorly might not land as expected. That said, choosing a theme that sums up you as a couple, and pulling it off well can create a fantastic talking point and really tie together various parts of the day.

Travel

I am all about travel as a way to rekindle desire in a relationship, but if you and your betrothed are big jet-setters anyway, travel can be a really lovely theme for your big day! Name the tables after places you have been and loved, and use pictures of you in the places as the numbers. Place settings can be luggage tags, on a map of the world, and spray paint globes gold for a fancy feel.

Harry Potter

If you want to add some magic to your wedding, this is the perfect theme! Instead of using the primary colours of the houses, you could make it feel a little more sophisticated by going for silvers and golds, or deep purples and crimsons. Use wands as place names, Marauder’s Map style stationary, and if you can bear to, use pages from the books to create flowers (but don’t tell Hermione!).

Vintage

A vintage wedding is a classy but fun theme for a wedding, which can be done on a budget if you so need. For example, decorate with some rustic bunting and hessian, search local charity shops for retro typewriters and pearls, and drink out of teacups and saucers for an air of sophistication.

Art Deco

Take your guests back to the roaring 20s with a Great Gatsby themed wedding. Think geometric gold shapes, glitz, and glamour with jazz music and a flapper-inspired wedding dress. This is a theme that will never go out of style and have all your guests doing the Charleston all night long!

There are so many different theme ideas, whether you choose something simple like a color, or a time period, or go for something more specific such as your favorite book, TV show or movie. It should be something that represents you as a couple, but that you know you’ll still love in twenty years time – no one wants to look back on their wedding photos and not even be able to understand some of the references they made in their own wedding!

What do you think of these themes? Let me know in the comments what theme you had, or what you would choose.
