Planning for a trip can be incredibly overwhelming. When I began my journey to explore over 100 countries, there was no Google or travel blogs, so I made many mistakes and planning was time-consuming.

I hope this list of some of my favorite websites, companies, and resources I have used to help me plan my trips.

Airfare

Skyscanner

I absolutely love Skyscanner! I usually find the best deals by checking the “Cheapest Month” section that shows the lowest fares. I start here before checking Kiwi, Google Flights, or Momondo.

Going

Going is amazing (you probably know it as Scott’s Cheap Flights) because it’s a search engine that emails you the most incredible flight deals. If you’re looking to save money and can be flexible with travel dates, sign up asap.

Momondo

Another great site that I check after I go to Skyscanner and Kiwi because it really does offer some great flight deals.

Google Flights

I often check Google Flights last, but I have found some good deals here as well. At the very least, it helps me to know which airlines fly to the country I would like to visit, so I can go to the airline and check prices.

Accommodations

Couchsurfing

I loved hosting travelers for free on Couchsurfing. Read reviews but be cautious; some men use this as a hookup site and try to take advantage of vulnerable women.  You can also post questions on the forums, find local friends to show you around, and attend meetups and parties.

Hostelworld

If you are on a tight budget, hostels are fantastic. Even if you’re reluctant to stay at a hostel, you can usually book a private room.

Trusted Housesitters

Trusted Housesitters is a great way for travelers to find free accommodations in exchange for house and pet sitting. You might be amazed at some of the places you can stay, including farms, NYC lofts and duplexes, beach homes with ocean front views, and castles!

Booking.com

Booking.com is such a great site for so many reasons; yes the prices are fantastic, but I love traveling to countries like Morocco, India, and other places where smaller boutique hotel and bed and breakfast owners list their rooms, so I often find places on Booking that I don’t find anywhere else. I usually begin here first.

Agoda

People often rave about Agoda as being the best site for guesthouses and hotels in Asia, but I have been surprised to find accommodations in many other countries as well. You’ll often find the best prices here.

HostelPass

The hostel pass gives you up to 20% off accommodations, so it’s a great way for you to save even more.
