Have you ever been to a stunning waterfall that was so incredible it left you breathless? Yes, that’s a typical cliche whenever you read about waterfalls, but it’s difficult to describe it otherwise. Although I have yet to visit Niagra Falls, there are a few places I’ve been to that I desperately wished I had experienced my visit with a lover, they were so romantic. Perhaps, one day, I will have the opportunity to return with someone special.

Until then, I wanted to share a few of my favorite waterfalls in the world with you.

Ouzud Waterfall, Morocco

One of my favorite waterfalls is Ouzud Waterfall in Morocco. I visited Ouzud when I took a day trip from Marrakech after many locals and traveler friends insisted I check it out.

I stayed at a small hotel, Chellal d Ouzud, and fell madly in love with the beautiful garden there. I would have breakfast in the garden each morning, then work under the shade of the tree as I listened to the birds, the monkeys, and the sound of the falls below.

Secret Waterfall, Ocho Rios, Jamaica

There are a few beautiful waterfalls in Jamaica I also love. Most people know about Dunns River Falls in Ocho Rios, but if you walk or hike a bit up the road from the fisherman’s village (where you’ll find a nice selection of seafood cafes along the water), look for the old rastaman’s shop about a half hour away on the side of the road and you just might be able to explore a secret waterfall.

Although I have been a few times, no one has ever been able to hare the name of this semi secret waterfall with me, so if you know it I would love to find out!

He sells wooden sculptures and paintings and other unique works of art, and if you’re nice, he may allow you to hike down the hill behind his shop, where you will find a stunning waterfall that dives into the ocean that most locals don’t even know exists.

Tenenungan Waterfall, Bali

You would think that a woman whose mission in life is to help other solo female travelers stay as safe as possible would follow the very large, clearly visible signs along the way toward Tegenungan Waterfall in Bali, Indonesia that warn hikers to “Beware, extremely slippery rocks”, but nope.

Guess who came back from that trip all scraped up and bloody? Still, this arrogant, cocky mofo who thinks she’s such a badass prancing around in cheap sandals wants you to know that if you ever get the opportunity to visit this (or any) waterfall in Bali, please do so. They are spectacular.

Normally I am not into walking or hiking much, especially when there are seemingly endless stairs. For this waterfall, I’m really glad I did the trek, it was so worth the effort.

Tegenungan Waterfall is located at the village of Tegenungan Kemenuh, in the Gianyar Regency, north from the capital Denpasar and close to the Balinese artist village of Ubud. Located 30 min south from Ubud, this is an incredibly romantic day trip from Ubud, especially when Ubid is at the height of the tourist season and the streets are too packed to enjoy yourself.

The 25 meter high waterfall is magnificent, especially after it rains. Bring a swimsuit; this is a fantastic place for swimming, and for Instagram shots.

Here is a cool Youtube video on a few things tourists should check out in Ubud, Bali.

HSBC Rain Vortex

And finally, I wanted to include a special bonus waterfall that you won’t find by trekking through a jungle or along the ocean. In fact, this indoor, man made waterfall attracts travelers from around the world; the HSBC Rain Vortex!

Even more surprising, this seven story spectacular sight is located inside the world’s best airport in Singapore.

I fell in love with this airport when I saw the exotic resting areas, the free massage chairs, the luxurious 24 hour free movie theaters that constantly play the latest feature films, the rooftop swimming pool, and the many lush gardens.

Come to think of it, the airport lounges, all with different themes, the butterfly garden, the exquisite VIP lounges, and the fancy shops are pretty fantastic as well. I could go on and on about this airport, but I think I’ll just show you a photo of the waterfall to inspire you to check out this lovely place for yourself.

Standing 40 metres tall with water cascading down from the dome-shaped roof of Jewel Changi Airport (Jewel), the HSBC Rain Vortex is the world’s tallest indoor waterfall.

Which of these waterfalls are your favorite? Or, do you hve another that find even more beautiful?

It is so hard to choose, there are many beautiful romantic waterfalls in the world!
